Syeda Hafeeza Bibi Yamani (رحمة الله عليها)

(The Pious Daughter of Hazrat Quadeer, Symbol of Purity and Spiritual Grace at Halkatta Sharif)

1. Parentage, Birth, and Family Background

  • Noble Parentage: Syeda Hafeeza Bibi was the beloved and spiritually gifted daughter of the founder of the modern era at Halkatta Sharif, Hazrat Khwaja Syed Mohammed Badshah Quadri Chishti Yamani Quadeer (Rah.) and Syyeda Mariam Bibi Saheba (daughter of Hazrat Syed Ibrahim Hasan Segedar of Raichur).
  • A Blessed Household: Born into a household completely immersed in Zikr, Tawakkal (absolute trust in God), and strict Shariah observance, she was raised under the direct spiritual gaze and training of her father. From a young age, she was an ardent devotee (Murid) of her father and absorbed the deepest intricacies of the Qadiri-Chishti path.

2. Spiritual Disposition and High State (Latif Qalb)

  • Devotional Life: She was recognized among close disciples and family members for having a remarkably pure heart (Latif Qalb), engaging constantly in nightly devotions, prayers, and remembrance alongside her family.
  • Perception of the Unseen: Blessed with spiritual intuition (Kashf), she lived a life of exceptional piety, modesty, and total detachment from worldly vanities, embodying the true spirit of feminine spirituality in Sufism.

3. Prophetic Illness and Passing (Visal)

  • Early Demise: She fell seriously ill with a high fever at the young age of roughly thirteen years old.
  • Foretelling Her Return: During her illness, even before her father returned home, she displayed extraordinary composure and spiritual awareness, softly stating: “Bawa Jan, I am going back to where I came from. When I pass, open my grave and check to see if your salt/blessing has decayed or remained preserved.”
  • Date of Visal: She passed away on the 13th night at midnight, on 18 Dhu al-Qa’dah 1360 AH (corresponding to 1941 CE) at Halkatta Sharif.
  • Initial Burial: With the participation of both Hindu and Muslim devotees, she was laid to rest on 19 Dhu al-Qa’dah around 5:00 PM in the family’s land at Halkatta Sharif.

4. The Miraculous Discovery (The Preservation of Her Sacred Body)

  • Opening the Grave (39th Day): When her mother and family members arrived later from Raichur, they initially questioned the swift burial arrangements made in their absence. Remembering her dying request to inspect her resting place, and keeping in light of the teachings of Khwaja Banda Nawaz regarding the preservation of bodies through halal sustenance (Akal-e-Halal), true speech (Sidq-e-Maqal), and constant remembrance of God (Zikr-e-Qalbi), the family decided to open her grave on the 39th day after her passing.
  • A Divine Manifestation: When the heavy stone slabs (Sang-e-Silu) were lifted, an overwhelming, musk-like fragrance (Khushboo) burst forth, filling the entire atmosphere. Countless witnesses—both Muslims and Hindus from the surrounding region—beheld that her sacred body was completely intact, fresh, and radiating divine light, appearing as though she was peacefully sleeping.
  • Renewed Funeral Rites: Instead of grief, the atmosphere turned into one of profound awe and spontaneous recitation of Darood Shareef. Her grave was respectfully re-sealed after performing a formal funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janazah).

5. The Hafeeza Baoli and Annual Urs Commemoration

  • The Well (Baoli) and Rest House: Near her sacred resting place, a large 10-yard square water well (Baoli) and a traveler’s rest house (Sarai) were constructed to serve pilgrims and visitors, famously known to this day across the region as “Hafeeza Baoli”.
  • Annual Urs-e-Hafeeza Bibi: Ever since this miraculous event, an annual Urs and Sandal celebration has been held every year on 19th Dhu al-Qa’dah at Halkatta Sharif in her honor, drawing thousands of devotees seeking spiritual blessings, solace, and witnessing the enduring legacy of purity associated with Astana-e-Quadeeriya
